South Buckinghamshire Wildlife Garden

Project type:

South Buckinghamshire Wildlife Garden

Landscaper:

Nick Silva Landscapes & Ellicar Natural Pools

Encouraging a deeper connection with nature, this South Buckinghamshire garden was designed with wildlife and edible plants in mind. The centrepiece is a natural, chemical-free pool designed in collaboration with Ellicar. This unheated pool not only boosts garden biodiversity by attracting wildlife such as dragonflies and bats, but also serves as a focal point for entertainment and relaxation, significantly increasing the owners' time spent outdoors and enhancing their wellbeing. Surrounding plants soften the pool's edges and blend it seamlessly into the garden.

Additional features include a cozy firepit area with boulder seating for evening relaxation, an outdoor shower, and a grape vine pergola for sunset dining. A kitchen garden, complete with a pergola for edible climbers, adds both beauty and function, while an edible hedge featuring native species like cherry plum and wild pear creates definition and separates the formal planting areas of the garden to the more curvaceous meadow areas. This sweeping meadow extends the view towards the fields and hedgerows beyond, integrating the garden with its rural surroundings.

"Rachel was a pleasure to work with. She really listened to what we wanted to achieve with our garden, came up with some wonderful ideas and then adapted these further based on our feedback. She was inventive, knowledgeable, helpful and responsive, and we couldn't have had a better partner for our project. Highly recommended".
